From Edo Nihonbashi to Osaka.
Japanese aorta “Tokaido Gojunana-tsugi” (57 stages on the Tokai-do Road)” has 57 hospitality.
In 1601 (6th year of Keicho), Ieyasu Tokugawa established 53 lodgings on the road from Edo to Kyoto to establish the shogunate system.
This is the beginning of Tokaido.
Speaking of Tokaido, there are generally 53 post towns in Otsu from Shinagawa between Edo and Kyoto.
However, the road was linked from Edo to Osaka in 57 post towns, including 4 post towns, “Fushimi”, “Yodo”, “Hirakata”, and “Moriguchi”, from Kyoto to Osaka.
On the other hand, in the prints of Hiroshige Utagawa and Ikku Juppensha, “Tokaido Gojusan-tsugi” (53 stages on the Tokai-do Road)” spread to the world, and the west of Kyoto is now considered to be a different road from Tokaido.
Currently, we are building networks in 57 post towns from Edo to Osaka, actively exchanging information and collaborating.
